Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Mashi app and website. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. What Mashi is
Mashi is a marketplace that connects passengers and cargo senders with independent drivers travelling between Yemeni cities. Mashi is not a transport company, does not own vehicles and does not employ drivers; the transport contract is between the passenger or sender and the driver, and Mashi provides the tools to complete it safely.
2. Eligibility and account
- You must be 18 or older and provide accurate information.
- One account per person, tied to a verified phone number. You are responsible for everything done through your account; never share your verification code.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, is suspected of fraud, or endangers the safety of others.
3. Services
- Book a Ride: you request a seat on a published ride and the driver accepts or declines. The displayed price per segment binds both parties once accepted.
- Reserve a Ride: you publish a request and receive offers from drivers, or pick a driver; the price is fixed on confirmation.
- Ship a Cargo: describe the parcel, its weight and contents accurately. Dangerous or illegal goods, cash, jewellery, prescription medicines and live animals are prohibited unless the category rules shown in the app allow them. Parcels are handed over only against a delivery code or QR.
- Offer a Ride: drivers must hold a valid licence, a roadworthy and insured vehicle, honour the published times and prices, and complete the in-app verification before accepting bookings.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in Yemeni rial before you confirm and include the platform fee where applicable. You may pay cash to the driver, by bank or exchange-house transfer with an uploaded proof, through a mobile wallet, or from your Mashi balance. Mashi issues earnings statements to drivers and pays out according to the schedule shown in the app.
5. Cancellations and refunds
The cancellation policy (free window, fees and refund percentages) is shown in the app before you confirm any cancellation and may vary by service and city. Repeated cancellations or no-shows may lead to account restrictions.
6. Conduct and safety
- Respect the other party, be on time, and never harass, discriminate or use violence.
- Do not use the platform for anything illegal, circumvent the payment system, create fake accounts or post abusive content.
- The app offers an SOS button, trip sharing and user reporting; in an emergency call local emergency numbers first.
7. Ratings and disputes
After each transaction both parties rate each other. A dispute can be opened in the app within the displayed window; the operations team investigates and decides based on evidence (messages, photos, payment proof, trip log). That decision is binding within the platform without prejudice to your legal rights.
8. Limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mashi is not liable for indirect damages arising from the conduct of drivers or passengers, service interruptions or road conditions. Mashi's liability for any transaction is limited to the fees the platform collected for it.
9. Intellectual property
The app, its brand and content belong to Mashi. You receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the app for its intended purpose only.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time inside the app or through the account deletion page. Outstanding financial obligations survive deletion.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Yemen. We try to resolve any disagreement amicably first via support@getmashi.com.
12. Changes
We may amend these terms; you will be asked to accept the new version in the app for any material change.
