Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and MASHI, the company operating the MASHI shared electric scooter service. They cover this website and, once it is released, the MASHI rider app and the use of the fleet itself. If you fund a fleet campaign, the investor terms and the campaign agreement apply to that in addition to these terms.
What MASHI provides
MASHI operates a shared electric scooter fleet and the software used to find, unlock, ride and pay for a scooter. MASHI is a mobility operator. It is not a bank, a licensed investment fund or a deposit-taking institution, and it holds no financial-services licence.
Using this website
You may read, print and share pages from this website. You may not copy its design or content in order to run a competing service, attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it, or interfere with its operation. Information here is published in good faith and will change as the service develops. Where a page on this site and a signed agreement disagree, the agreement is what applies.
Who may ride
To ride you must be at least 18 years old, able to show valid identification, physically capable of controlling the vehicle, and not under the influence of alcohol or of anything else that slows your reactions. Your account is yours: do not let anybody else ride on it.
The rules of riding
The safety rules and the local operating rules published on this website form part of these terms. In short: one rider per scooter, a helmet on every ride, inside the service area, out of no-ride zones, off the pavements, and parked upright in a marked parking zone at the end. Instructions from the local authority take precedence over both this document and the app.
What you are charged
Rides are priced per minute with a charge to start, at the tariff shown in the app before you unlock. A trip continues to be charged until you end it in the app. MASHI may also charge you for damage you cause, for recovering a scooter left outside a permitted area, and for fines it receives because of how a trip was ridden or parked. Charges are explained on your receipt, and you can query any of them.
The vehicles are not yours
Scooters remain the property of MASHI or its partners. You take one for the length of a trip; you do not own it, rent it for a term, or take possession of it. Do not modify a scooter, remove any part of it, or take it inside a building or into another vehicle.
Suspension
MASHI may suspend or close an account used to ride dangerously, to damage vehicles, to park in a way that endangers or obstructs other people, or to use the service fraudulently. Where it is fair to do so, we will tell you why and give you a way to respond.
Liability
Riding an electric scooter carries a real risk of injury, to you and to others. You ride at your own risk and are responsible for riding within your ability, within the law and within these rules. MASHI is responsible for operating and maintaining the fleet with reasonable care. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Changes
These terms will change as the service launches and as local requirements develop. The version published here is the current one, and material changes will be announced before they take effect.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Syrian law, and the courts of Damascus have jurisdiction, except where mandatory local law provides otherwise. Please contact MASHI first: most problems are faster to fix than to argue about.
